Cristina García (b. 1958, Havana): A former TIME Magazine correspondent in Miami, San Francisco and Los Angeles, García is the author of the novels, Dreaming in Cuban, The Agüero Sisters, Monkey Hunting, The Lady’s Matador Hotel and King of Cuba. She is the editor of Cubanísimo! an anthology of stories, essays, poems and novel excerpts. García grew up in Brooklyn and attended Barnard College before receiving a Master’s degree from the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University. She has been a Guggenheim Fellow, a Hodder Fellow at Princeton University and the recipient of a Whiting Writers Award.  García was appointed University Chair in Creative Writing at Texas State University-San Marcos, 2012-2014.
