Jorge Ignacio Cortiñas (b. 1967, Miami): A resident playwright at New Dramatists in New York City since 2004, Cortiñas is the winner of fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York Foundation for the Arts. He also received a Helen Merrill Award, a Writers Community Residency from the YMCA National Writer's Voice, and the Robert Chesley Award, among others. His critically acclaimed play, Blind Mouth Singing, completed runs at Chicago's Teatro Vista and the New York-based National Asian American Theatre Company. Other plays include Bird in the Hand, The Charm of Preparedness, and Look! A Latino. He holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from Brown University. (Cintas for literature, 2011-12)
