Geada, Rita

Rita Geada (b. 1934, Pinar del Río): A writer and educator, Geada received a doctorate from the University of Havana and did post-doctoral work at the University of Buenos Aires. Her short stories and poems, which have been translated into English, Italian, Portuguese and French, have been included in several anthologies. Geada has also published numerous literary essays. Among her poetry collections are Desvelado silencio, Cuando cantan las pisadas, Vertizonte, Otoño en New England, Mascarada, for which she received a Carabela award, and Espejo de la tierra, which won the 2001 international Luis Santamarina City of Cieza prize.
